VCUSD to Host Town Hall Meeting on School Consolidation
Learn about the potential school closures and consolidation at the town hall on Jan. 21, 2024.
VALLEJO, Calif. — The Vallejo City Unified School District (VCUSD) invites families, staff, and community members to a town hall meeting to discuss potential school closures and consolidation. The meeting will occur on Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2024, from 6-7:30 p.m. in the Jesse Bethel High School Small Theatre.
This town hall provides an opportunity to learn more about the proposals and share feedback directly with district leadership. We encourage everyone to attend and engage in this critical conversation about the future of our schools.
Superintendent Rubén Aurelio and district leaders will present the factors driving the consolidation proposals, including enrollment trends, budget constraints, and long-term planning for academic success. Following the presentation, attendees can ask questions and provide feedback in a structured setting.
“These decisions are never easy, and we are committed to ensuring that our community is informed and involved throughout this process,” said Superintendent Rubén Aurelio. “We value every voice and want to hear from as many stakeholders as possible before making final decisions.”
The meeting will be conducted in English and Spanish to accommodate our diverse community. Translation services will also be available at the session to ensure inclusivity.
Feedback from the meeting will be critical in shaping the district’s next steps. For those unable to attend in person, a meeting recording and a feedback form will be available on the district’s website shortly after the session.
Individuals planning to attend the event and needing accommodations should contact the superintendent's office at suptoffice1@vcusd.org or 707-556-8921 x50002 to request them. Accommodation requests should be made as far in advance as possible to ensure arrangements can be made to meet them.
