Our Namesake

Dan Mini, our school's namesake, was born in Gudo, Switzerland, on Feb. 22, 1852, and immigrated to the United States at age 20, eventually settling in Napa in 1872. He worked as a winemaker before forming a dairy partnership with his brother Lorenzo in 1874. Their dairy, located three miles north of Vallejo, became the largest in the area and expanded into Vallejo in 1902. The partnership dissolved in 1908, and Dan retired to his ranch, which later became the site of our school. Mini passed away in 1921, leaving eight children and numerous grandchildren, with local streets named after the Mini family members.
